ERIC  J. LORD

My sportswriting career started when I was recruited to join the school newspaper as a freshman in high school. From there, I went on to become the editor of the sports section on the yearbook staff. I continued my sportswriting career at Fordham University, writing for both The Paper and The Observer. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communciations at Fordham.

After a short stint as a correspondent for the Pottsville Republican, I headed to Iona College to get my Masters in Journalism. I graduated with honors. While there, I wrote high school sports previews for The Item.

For two seasons, I wrote about the Hershey Bears for the Sports Burger website. The website folded prior to the 2013-14 season. Then, I started my own Bears blog, The Town of Chocolate Hockey Blog. I've been writing there since. In November of 2017, I began writing about Hershey for the Washington Capitals organization site NoVaCaps.

I caught the photography bug while working a photographer messenger for the Associated Press at the U.S. Open Tennis Championships. I was allowed to take a professional camera out on the grounds to shoot the Junior tournament. I have been hooked ever since.

I have been working as a freelance photographer, shooting local sporting events and concerts. However, I have been able to hone my craft the most by shooting the Pottsville Area High School girl's soccer team. I am an assistant coach and I also run the team's website and social media accounts. My photos are on the website and those accounts. My writing is also on the website and I run all aspects of the site.
